Starbucks-free Jersey City coffee news you can use.

Two new coffee chains that aren't Starbucks are opening in downtown Jersey City soon.

After months of just a poster in the window, the paper finally went up and all the permits are a go for Van Houtte Cafe, the Canadian chain opening at the corner of Montgomery and Greene in the Montgomery-Greene Condominiums.

Signs just went up too announcing Port City Java, which already brews its organic and fair trade coffee in three New Jersey branches, is opening a fourth at the corner of Varick and Christopher Columbus Drive. According to their website Port City displays the work of local artists so this location was well thought out in appealing to its new neighbors.
