While she's always been quick to come to our kitchen aid, we've been a little slow in covering cross-country dining trends; but the end of summer brought about the departure of Bar Marmont chef de cuisine, Michelle Sallah, who started her back of house career under April Bloomfield at the Spotted Pig only to find herself one year ago turning things around on the Sunset Strip under Bloomfield's former second in command, Carolynn Spence. Now Sallah's become our favorite west coast private chef, having just launched Petit Chou Inc., offering classes and catering built around a gastropub education, the best California seasonal produce and the occasional vat of chocolate.
