While any new construction is great news for the state of Midtown West, it's sad news for our favorite pop-up eatery. When the Bon Appetit Supper Club & Cafe wooed us to attend their opening last fall there was mention of a contingency plan for moving things to a new venue as the old Hard Rock Cafe space at 221 West 57th Street was always in danger of coming down being replaced with a highrise and after nearly four years - it's been otherwise vacant since Extell purchased the space in August '05 - something appears to finally be underway. With the state of surrounding vacancies we're sure BA will have their pick of prime spots come fall (when it will be returning) but it's still sad to see this space on its way down.
