While the Mets are out of town playing the Cardinals, Citi Field will be welcoming fans more interested in the opening of a Shake Shack than a stadium. On April 21st, this year's Queens... A Taste of the World will be the first major event to take place there, already stealing a gig from the Billie Jean King Tennis Center. While there's no mention if Danny Meyer's in-house restaurants will be taking part, take heart, they haven't all been announced yet either. Event planners are only just being shown the stadium this week and there won't be a full unveiling to the press until the 31st. However more than 60 local restaurants will be included. Tickets are on sale until April 3rd for $65, $75 afterward, and VIP tickets for $150.
If you feel like being charitable in Manhattan, on May 7th you can benefit the Grand Street Settlement by attending the 9th annual Taste of the Lower East Side at the Puck Building for comfort foods from more than 35 restaurants including comfort food destinations ranging from Clinton Street Baking Company to Roni-Sue Chocolates. Tickets, $150 in advance, $200 at the door.
And following the Tribeca Film Festival, the 15th annual Taste of Tribeca takes over the neighborhood on Saturday, May 16th benefiting PS 150 and PS 234. New restaurants this year include the Cafe 92Y Tribeca, Forge, Grandaisy Bakery, Macao Trading Co. and Secession. Tickets range from $40 for six tastes to $1200 for a night at the Tribeca Grand and tickets for six.
