Sandwiched, Danny Meyer's new pop-up cafe (think Bon Appetit Supper Club) in the Whitney Museum won't be open until Thursday, but we were lucky to have an early taste and a first look.
(Union Square cured salmon, $11.95, Blue Smoke turkey and gouda, $9.75.)
(Chicken soup, $5.50, Onion soup, $6. Restaurants inspiring them, unknown.)
(Hudson Yards S'more and Gramercy Tavern mint brownie, $3.75 each.)
And whether or not you're one of the lucky few to attend the Biennial's opening festivities tomorrow (or lucky few thousand to visit Wednesday night) the Whitney's repeating their success of their previous showdown between two sweets trucks. With the curb closed off outside at 75th Street, passersby can indulge in the Treats Truck and La Petite Temptation. An offshoot of Jersey City's Louisiana Spice Truck, New Jersey's first dessert truck coming soon to Hoboken, will be debuting tomorrow night.
A better look at the Sandwiched menu and La Petite Temptation after the jump.
(LPT's Tonkawich, a tonka bean parfait with chocolate ganache sandwiched between shortbread in a chocolate shell, $5.)
La Petite Temptation will be introducing a ten item menu of $5 desserts tomorrow including La Cochon, their bacon creme brulee atop a lard biscuit and the Louisiana Spice Truck staples that spawned the new truck, like their praline and white chocolate coffee parfaits. You can read more about the truck and see more of the desserts over on our new Jersey City Independent blog.
But if you won't be in the neighborhood until Thursday here's a first look at the final menu for Sandwiched, debuting with the public opening of the Biennial.
